Nich Roper BVetMed DBR MRCVS comes from a farming background
in Norfolk. A昀琀er qualifying in 1992 he worked in a large mixed prac琀椀ce
in Kent where he developed his interest in herd and 昀氀ock health and
produc琀椀on.In 1995 he moved to North Devon where he con琀椀nued to
develop his interests in mas琀椀琀椀s, lameness, nutri琀椀on and in par琀椀cular ca琀琀le
reproduc琀椀on. In 2004 he obtained the Diploma in Bovine Reproduc琀椀on,
and in 2015 he was awarded the Advanced Prac琀椀oner status in Bovine
Reproduc琀椀on.
Kiera Schubert BA VetMB Cert AVP (Ca琀琀le) MRCVS joined the prac琀椀ce in
2008 and s琀椀ll loves it so whilst she may occasionally cross the river has no
plans to go any further! She enjoys working with clients on preventa琀椀ve
medicine and management and holds a cer琀椀昀椀cate in ca琀琀le health and
produc琀椀on.
Kiera has par琀椀cular interests in calf health and mas琀椀琀椀s preven琀椀on and is
part of the team leading the Torch Youngstock Club.
In addi琀椀on to her VCST role at Torch, Jess is an ac琀椀ve member of our wellbeing group and is known for organising social events and team gatherings!
Outside of her role Jess manages her own cra昀琀 business in her spare 琀椀me.
Jess has also completed an appren琀椀ceship Diploma in Business and
Administra琀椀on.
Guto Wynne BVMS MRCVS graduated from the University of Glasgow in
2013 and started in mixed prac琀椀ce before making the move from Wales
and joining the team in 2016. He is interested in all areas of farm work,
par琀椀cularly sheep health planning and reproduc琀椀on. Guto is the lead
Vet for South West Sheep Breeding Services team.In his spare 琀椀me, if he
hadn’t spent enough 琀椀me working with sheep during the day, Guto can be
seen tending to his small 昀氀ock of Valais Blacknose sheep.
Sophia Elworthy BVSc PGCert VetEd MRCVS grew up on a beef and sheep
farm on the edge of Exmoor and is now se琀琀led on a dairy and sheep farm
near Swimbridge. Her main area of focus includes dairy herd health work
with a par琀椀cular interest in preventa琀椀ve health work and benchmarking
key performance indicators.
Outside of work she enjoys running round the lanes of Swimbridge well
as helping out on the family farm with lambing, milking and calf rearing.
Hana Ward BVetMed PGDip VCP MRCVS graduated from the Royal
Veterinary College in 2020 and has been with Torch since then, having undertaken an internship with us. She is interested in all areas of farm work,
but par琀椀cularly dairy cow fer琀椀lity and young-stock health.
Outside of work, Hana enjoys rowing, cuddling her 2 adorable cats and
hiking around all the beau琀椀ful countryside North Devon has to o昀昀er.
